Heating & Cooling

Emergency HVAC Repair on the Upper Eastern Shore

No cooling in a heat wave. No heat in a freeze. A gas smell near the furnace. These are the calls where a local company earns its reputation, and KelAire's Google reviews tell that story over and over: same-day repairs, evening visits, systems back up within 24 hours.

We are a small company and honest about capacity, but when it is a genuine emergency, especially for households with kids, elderly family members, or medical needs, we move the schedule around and get there.

Doug did it again! Just received the best service for my mom this time. Her AC is so cold and good to go for the summer.

What Counts as an HVAC Emergency, and What to Do First

Real emergencies, honestly defined

No heat with freezing temperatures is an emergency, full stop, and more so with infants, elderly family members, or anyone medically vulnerable in the house. No cooling in a heat wave crosses into emergency for the same households, and for pets left home in the heat. Water pouring from an air handler is an emergency for your ceilings. Any gas smell is an emergency for your gas company first, from outside the house, before it is an HVAC call. A system that is merely making a new noise or short of capacity is urgent, and we treat it that way, but it can usually wait for morning, and we will tell you honestly which category you are in when you call.

While you wait: protect the house

No heat in a hard freeze threatens pipes before it threatens people. Open cabinet doors under sinks on exterior walls, let faucets drip, and close off unused rooms to concentrate warmth. Space heaters are fine used sanely: on the floor, three feet from anything flammable, never on an extension cord. In a no-cool heat wave, work the house like a sailor: shades down on the sun side, windows open at night if the air is drier than the house, box fans moving air across people. And if the indoor coil has frozen, switch the system off so it can thaw; it cannot be diagnosed or repaired encased in ice.

How emergency pricing works with us

A stranded homeowner is the easiest person in the world to overcharge, which is exactly why we do not. The quoted price is the final price on an emergency call the same as any other. We prioritize genuine emergencies within our schedule, and our reviews include evening visits that happened because a family needed heat that night. What we will not do is invent an after-hours multiplier because the outside temperature gave us leverage.
